Alex Murphy

Head of Gulf Aviation

Alex has been in his position as Head of Gulf Aviation for over five years, following 18 with Air BP, where he held positions including Aviation Territory Manager (responsible for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England), Business Development Manager, through to UK General Aviation Manager.

His key responsibility with Gulf is the long term development of the aviation business in the UK and Europe.

His main day-to-day activities include creating new business opportunities alongside maintaining Gulf Aviation’s existing high levels of customer service, as well as developing a passionate team with in depth industry experience. “If we don’t have commitment, we won’t have a business,” he explains.

In his spare time, Alex says: “I’m at that age where getting off the sofa is viewed as exercise! But I enjoy watching sport and movies on TV and fine dining!”

 
 

David Dykes

Commercial Manager

David joined from Bayford in October 2009, where he was on its graduate management training scheme in 2006, taking in accounts/credit, supply, sales, account management and purchasing analysis. He then moved into retail and assisted the start-up of Gulf Aviation, before moving across full time.

Based at the Gulf Aviation Customer Service Centre in Castleford, he oversees all commercial aspects of the business, incorporating supply, logistics, pricing and contractual matters. David also carries out project work aimed at developing the business strategy in the UK market and beyond.

Away from the office, David is a keen Rugby League enthusiast and enjoys both playing and watching. He is also an avid cricket fan and enjoys travelling to new places.

 
 

Sam Crooks

Operations & Technical Manager

Sam joined Gulf Aviation during September 2014 as Operations and Technical Manager, following 35 years’ service with Air BP International. Sam brings a wealth of operational and technical expertise to the company and is first point of contact for all related issues.

Sam is an Inspector to JIG standards and is responsible for ensuring timely Quality Control and Maintenance programme for the Gulf Aviation refuelling fleet, carries out customer site Risk Assessments and provides vital QC training courses for Gulf’s general aviation customers.

Away from the office, Sam is a season ticket holder at his favourite east end of Glasgow football team and also enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

 
 

Sarah Burden

Commercial Co-ordinator

Sarah joined the Carlton Fuels Sales Team in 2011. She then moved to Logistics Administration in 2013 and took the opportunity to move to Gulf Aviation in 2014.

As well as providing the team with administrative support she processes customer orders, co-ordinates supply and logistics, invoicing, pricing and deals with customer service matters.

She is currently competing for the title of “Best Brew Maker in the Office”!

Away from the office, Sarah enjoys watching Formula 1™ races, travelling, good food and fine wine.

 

 

 
 

Ian Stanley

Supply & Logistics Assistant

Ian is the newest addition to the Gulf Aviation team joining in October 2016.   Based in Castleford, Ian will provide assistance with supply, logistics and pricing needs of our customers.

Ian moved over from our parent company, Certas Energy, where he was an account manager for commercial and domestic customers’ fuel requirements since July 2013.   In this role, he covered various aspects of the business including account management, pricing, logistics, operations and credit control giving him good knowledge and experience to transfer into his new role.

Outside of work an avid armchair football fan and enjoy cooking in my spare time.
